BRITISH, Plantagenet. Edward I, 1272-1307. Penny (Silver, 20 mm, 1.38 g, 2 h), Newcastle-upon-Tyne, circa June 1280-December 1281. ✠ЄDWR' ANGL DNS HyB Crowned head of Edward I facing. Rev. VILLA NOVI CASTRI Long cross pattée with tree small pellets in each angle. SCBC 1428. Beautifully toned. Minor flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.
